Circular Reasoning

oozing chin drops dripping

with the swell of throaty laughter

echoing in the woods

a pause, and

a single teardrop drips.

You never told me that

you could never be my one and only

Cat

a grinning, furry head sideways turns

a kiss good-bye

on a velvet ear

So sweet,

this love that was never meant

to last

i turn away

mind spinning webs

dripping with the bitter drops of

dew

which will form on her brow

envisioning the buzzing

just as all around,

the chirping whirring and plonking

feeds on the underworld

yet

wafts symbiotic melodies

tickling the leaves

telling tall tales as

distantly,

The whales splash on

and sonorize their call

Echoing in the ear

of the dolphin

A future descendent of

our kin

effortlessly arching

and singing of days

when seagulls were

Falcons and cages

were spider webs

You could dissolve them with your tongue

like a single strand of cotton candy

amidst a wasp's nest of sugar

housing multitudes in moral decay

eating ice cream on withered dreams

I will not cry when the pins that poke the sky

dissolve and fall

It could have been a celebration

-it was a celebration

if not for all the consternation

-everyone complained, but it was good sport

And the lamentable lamentations that echo

-how we love to hate one another

in the ears of the dolphins

-our descendants

Sounds spinning round spaces of devastation

-poetry sparring with reality

lined with litter boxes

Waiting to be emptied of

the far-out notion that interpersonal communication

Can happen

knowing full well the stage holds sway

Standing there

in the light

holding a pitchfork

Hoping to get the tune just right

so that the average annual rainfall

Will appease the rain dancing

spiders

Whose webs are catching

the flies

that ate the cat
